WHAT IS OZONE THERAPY ?
Ozone as a therapeutic molecule has been in clinical use for nearly a century. Molecular
ozone is available on this earth at high altitudes, mountains, waterfalls, and is also
produced while lightening strikes. Ozone therapy is used to treat a variety of conditions,
such as chronic pain and inflammation, arthritis, various bacterial & viral infections,
revascularisation of dead or dying tissues, and presently is even being studied as a
potential treatment for cancer. Ozone finds great use in cosmetology, dermatology, skin
care, auto immune disorders, and numerous medical dermatological and neurological
conditions.

OZONE PROTECTION MASK:
Though ozone finds tremendous usage in medical practice, direct inhalation of ozone is not
recommended. Ozone smell is an irritant and also exacerbates bronchial asthma and COPD.
Ozone inhalation by the treating clinician or assistants is not an issue in Intra articular, Intra diskal,
Pain Portals, or MAHT, where the ozone is drawn into a syringe and the machine is switched off
immediately.
However in insufflation procedures like vaginal, rectal, and other procedures where ozone in and
out points are there, the exiting ozone has to go into a destroyer. However there is a possibility of
leak and the whole room smelling of ozone. Likewise if the operation theatre is being sterilised
with ozone, for the staff to go in and out during the process involves breathing of ozone which is
not desirable.
IAOS ozone protection masks with activated charcoal, is a patent pending innovation, where an
airtight mask is used and the inhalation is through a chamber filled with activated charcoal. This
assembly is highly recommended with all ozone procedures for the therapist and staff.
Stainless Steel Ozone Destroyers
Ozone destroyers are needed for all exiting ozone gas so as to not diffuse in air and
irritate our pulmonary or nasal mucosa. Stainless steel is the best ozone compatible
material and connecting this to exiting ozone ensures safety for therapist assistant and
patient.
Stainless steel and brass diffusers
A therapist needs diffusers for uniform spread of ozone into water for drinking, ozonised
water for misting face, ozonised saline for wound washes and pre closure washing, and
ozonating oils for cosmetic and therapeutic applications. Putting the other end of a
silicone tube into water or oil will bubble ozone no doubt but will not diffuse ozone
thoroughly through water, saline or oil. Thus an ozone diffuser is used to uniformly
perfuse the liquid with ozone. IAOS machines come with two diffuser stones, but stainless
steel or brass diffusers are more convenient with better diffusion capabilities.
These diffusers are compatible with IAOS silicone tubes and will last for many many
years. Diffusers can be autoclaved, washed and sterilised. It is recommended that the
practitioner uses different diffusers for ozonating oils and water. Like wise it is also rec
ommended that the practitioner keeps separate sets for OPD use, one for operation the
atre and a couple spares. If the stones become clogged due to repeated use, just boiling
them in water and then attaching the open end to a suction machine will clear all clogs
and it will start working like new. The pictures below show the role of ozonated oil in re
gressing leukoplakia and buccal cancer.

Major autohaemotherapy is the procedure where 50 ml of patients blood is drawn, and
perfused with 50 to 60 ml of 70 micrograms percent ozone. This bubbling diffused ozone
makes the blood cherry red. The ozonated blood is now retransfused back to the patient.
There are a wide set of indications for MAHT procedure which are described in detail in
the book and course lessons.
IAOS MAHT bottles are made out of medical grade flint free borosilicate glasses with
stainless steel diffuser pipes to make highest compatibility ozone MAHT bottles in the

to 60 ml blood and perfusing it with an additional 50 to 60 ml of 70 micrograms ozone.
